Have you got a great idea that can benefit your community?

£5,000 up for grabs!

Are you a small voluntary or community group, not-for-profit organisation or Tenants and Residents Association with an average income of £20,000 or less over the last three years?

Apply for a Grassroot Grant of up to £5,000 for a range of community projects - this could be an event on your estate, computers to help people learn IT or look for jobs or doing up your community hall or gardens.

Grassroots Grants is available until 2011, with four closing dates a year. The next closing date is Friday, 9 January 2009.

Flytipping? Broken lamppost? Graffiti? - Let Hackney Council know in 3 seconds

This great little website enables you to let Hackney Council know about any local problem from fly-tipping to broken paving stones in seconds! Go to FixMyStreet.co.uk, put in a nearby postcode, click on the map to show where the problem is, then describe it. If you want to, you can upload a photo. Couldn't be easier! Who came up with this idea? I want to hug them!!

You book and pay, they collect.

Flytipping is illegal and carries fines of up to £20,000 and a prison sentence.
